We generate a lot of data as we perform various functions on our patents and comments databases. We plan to share as much of this empirical data as possible in the hopes that others will be able to use it in their writings, studies, investigations, or other projects.
Keep an eye on this page - we'll continue to update it with links to various data files as our collection grows.
If you do use some of our data, we ask that you cite PatentFizz as the source of the data and include a link to http://patentfizz.com/public_data/ if possible.
NOTE: We do not publish or otherwise share any sort of identifying information regarding people leaving comments on patents...so don't ask.
Each week, we add an expiration comment to the FizzDisplay for every single patent that expires for failure to pay maintenance fees. We collect various pieces of data as we process these expirations each week (total number expired for the week and the total number expired for the week at each of the three maintenance fee due dates), and add it to a yearly log.
To our knowledge, these data are not tabulated or otherwise reported in any other source.
